The Association of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen in Torrox (ASECOT) has expressed its deep concern about the change in location of the future marina. The original and approved site was at Vilchez beach on the border with Nerja but this has apparently been changed to arroyo Frontiles in Nerja.
ASECOT says it will fight the decision and hopes that this attitude will also be adopted by the Council and all political parties in Torrox.

Several local winners of the special ONCE draw on Sunday, one lucky soul scooping €6,000 per month for 25 years! Nine other people won €25,000 each and all the tickets were sold by the one vendor, Manuel Núñez. Although the big winner has not yet been identified, it is thought to be a local resident as opposed to a tourist as most of the vendor’s customers are local residents.

For the second year in a row the local PSOE have denounced the ruling coalition government (IU, PSA, PIU, PP) for failure to comply with the general political agreement to freeze municipal salaries as a means of expressing solidarity during the current economic crisis.
According to the PSOE, as from January 1st the corporation has applied the budgeted salary increases, going against the general agreement being implemented in most municipalities.
